KALYAN: A youth alleged that his father who went to Kolsewadi police station here to rescue him was beaten by cops and died on the spot. Nanda Bhingardive, the youth Prashik’s (23) son, is associated with NCP, and her husband Deepak (63) was the NCP worker allegedly killed.
NCP MLA and former minister Jitendra Awhad tweeted about it and blamed police for beating up NCP worker Deepak and demanded that an FIR should be registered against all policemen who were present and those who took his son to the police station. The police denied the assault. The case has been handed over to CID for investigations.
Police said Prashik was taken to the police station for questioning on Friday night during an operation over suspicion for consuming liquor in a public space with others. Prashik, who works in a private finance company, said police called up his father. He said when his father started recording the incident on his mobile phone, they snatched it and slapped him on his ear, and took him inside.-
