MUMBAI: A four month old infant admitted at Kasturba hospital died following a gas cylinder blast which had taken place early on Tuesday morning.
On November 30, a gas cylinder exploded at around 7:10 am at BDD Chawl No-03, Kamgar Vasahat on Ganpatrao Jadhav Marg in Worli. Four persons including the infant were injured in the incident. While the infant identified as Mangesh Puri (04 months) died on Tuesday night, the condition of another injured Anand Puri (27) is critical. The two others injured namely Vidya Puri (25) and Vishnu Puri (05) are in a stable condition.
Following reports that there was a delay in treating the injured, the BMC ordered an enquiry on Tuesday evening. The BJP party leader in the BMC Prabhakar Shinde in a letter to the BMC chief IS Chahal said the child died owing to the carelessness of the doctors at Nair Hospital where he was admitted earlier. “Owing to it the child had to be shifted to Kasturba hospital. We strongly condemn this incident and demand strict action be taken by the authorities responsible for the death of the little infant,” said Shinde.
