THANE: Amid rising cases of Covid-19 in Thane city, the police on Friday urged shopkeepers, vendors and customers, to wear a mask to avoid the spread of the virus or gear up to pay Rs 500 fine.
The announcement was made by the police personnel from the Thane Nagar police station which is located near the market and station area.
The cops also urged shopkeepers to not allow customers inside the shop if they are not wearing a mask.
“It is appealed to everyone to wear a mask as the Covid-19 cases are rising and those not wearing masks will be fined Rs 500,” said the police while making the announcement.
The police also urged vendors and customers coming to the station to follow the rules as the cases are rising amid the threat of the Omicron variant.
Meanwhile, Thane city on Thursday reported a spike of 2,180 new Covid-19 cases. At present, there are 7,718 active cases.
