The Bhiwandi crime branch unit of Thane police arrested three people and seized huge quantity of explosives- gelatin sticks and detonators from Bhiwandi.
The crime team seized 1000 detonators and 1000 gelatine sticks. Investigator said that the gelatin sticks were packed in five boxes each having 200 sticks.
Laxmikant Patil, DCP crime branch Thane said upon receiving the information about large quantity of explosive being transported in vehicle in Bhiwandi, Bhiwandi unit’s team led by senior police inspector Sachin Gaikwad led trap near Nadi Naka in Bhiwandi and caught a Maruti Echo car and nabbed the accused.
The arrested accused are identified as Alpesh Patil,34, Pankaj Chavan, 23 and Samir Vedga, 27. All three are residents of Palghar District.
The investigator found that accused were illegally carrying explosive materials without permission.
A case had been registered against trio accused under section 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) of Indian Penal code and section 5 (Punishment for making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances) of the Explosive Substance Act 1908.
