THANE: An absconding co-accused in an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault case of a minor girl from Jalalpur, Navsari near Surat was nabbed from Maharashtra‘s Kalyan city following a joint operation by the Thane crime branch unit-1 and Gujarat Police, officials informed on Saturday.
PI Krishna Kokani of the Thane crime branch unit-1 informed they were alerted by their Gujarat counterparts about the accused Gaurav Bhoir suspected to be hiding somewhere in Kalyan. “The accused, along with three others, had allegedly kidnapped a minor girl who was in love with one of their acquaintances in Gujarat following which her parents reported the matter to the police,” said Kokani.
The Gujarat Police, based on a technical network, tracked the movement of the accused to Thane district and approached the crime branch unit which further used its local network and managed to arrest the accused from Chikanghar area in Kalyan.
He was later handed over to the Gujarat Police, said Kokani.
