MUMBAI: In yet another incident, an alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) staffer saved the life of a 71-year old lady passenger when she slipped on the platform from moving train 22159 CSMT-Chennai mail express train at Kalyan railway station.
The Kalyan RPF said the incident took place on Monday at 1.55 pm at platform number 4 when a lady passenger Sarubai Karsude, resident of Pune, was trying to board a moving train when she lost balance and fell in the gap between the train and platform.
During the time posted, RPF staff Updesh Yadav looking at passenger immediately rushed towards her and pulled out the passenger of the moving train from the gap of the train and platform.
In the last five months, this is the seventh time when RPF, GRP, ticket checker and even in one case point man at Kalyan railway station saved lives of passengers falling during boarding or de-boarding moving trains.
Shivaji Sutar, chief public relations officer of Central railway said, “Railway appeals passengers not to board or de-board a running train”.
