“The accused told the victim his money could be doubled by a ritual or puja. He told him to bring cash, which has to be doubled,” added the officer.
The victim and his wife were called to an isolated place at Balkum on February 11. The accused told the couple to bring a coconut, lemon and kumkum, police said.
He took the bag with money and told asked them to perform the pooja, closing their eyes. He slipped away with the bag through a gap in the pipeline and vanished, police said.
The couple searched for the accused but he could not to be found.
