MUMBAI: Close on the heels of the green bus stops near Race Course which became popular lately — with PMO making inquiries with the BEST — the latter will now have 30 more stops coming up in three months, sources said on Wednesday.
This includes ten in Worli area/G south ward, ten more along Andheri to Goregaon Link Road and remaining ten green stops in other parts of the suburbs, the sources stated.
Said Ketan Kadam, who was instrumental in executing the first bus stop as pilot for G-South ward, “The thought behind such unique stops was to increase the green cover in the city by smartly using existing infrastructure as land to develop green spaces is mostly encroached or privately owned.”
The stops will have roofs with plants and flowers such as Zebrina, Asparagus, Morning Glory and Jasmine and other flowers which will attract butterflies and other pollinating agents. Also the plants atop the Ribbon grass will help purify air
