MUMBAI: Solar panels of total 90 KWp were installed at Titwala, Kasara and Igatpuri stations on Sunday after inspections were conducted by Central Railway (CR) general manager Anil Kumar Lahoti.
This will lead to annual savings of over Rs 8 lakh for CR in terms of overall electricity consumption at these stations.
The GM conducted the annual inspection on the Igatpuri – Kalyan section of the Mumbai division and participated in speed run (trials) between Vasind and Titwala.
Sources said that in near future, train speeds could be improved further after such trials.
All Covid-19 protocols were observed during the inspection.
He visited the railway hospital, filter house, a water recycling plant to use for gardening and other purposes after treatment.
He inaugurated a Hindi Library and also inspected PRS and booking office, crew lobby, running room, training coach made from a discarded coach during the annual inspection.
The coach is being used for upgrading knowledge of all staff leading. He also inaugurated an herbal garden.
He conducted inspections of a few tunnels and bridges in the ghat section and flagged off new RPF vehicles for patrol purposes.
