Kukreja was found dead near the staircase at Bhagwati Heights in Khar (West) and in the same building, she along with Jogdhankar and the other accused Diya Padalkar (19) attended the New Year party on December 31 night.
Kukreja was found dead by a building resident at around 2.30 am on January 1 who then informed the building owner’s son Yash Ahuja who has organized the party. Kukreja was found dead with multiple head injuries and even blood stains were found on the staircase railing on the second floor where her head was banged that led to her death. Police reached the spot at around 3 am and her parents learnt about her death at around 5 am.
Jogdhankar’s lawyer Mahesh Vaswani has appealed in the bail plea that at least he should be granted interim bail because he has to appear for the Hotel Catering exam that he is preparing from inside the Jail. “There is a missing link in the entire murder and the Khar police have failed to find the real culprit till date,” said Vaswani.
Earlier, the second accused Diya Padalkar (19) has applied for the bail. The hearing in both the matter will be heard on February 17.
Meanwhile, Kukreja’s were represented by senior lawyer Rizwan Merchant along with lawyers—Trivankumar Karnani and Gayatri Gokhale. “We will oppose the bail application because police probe is ongoing,” said Karnani.
