MUMBAI: Railway board chairman and CEO Suneet Sharma who visited Mumbai on Sunday travelled by second class compartment of a suburban train on Western Railway and interacted with passengers to get their feedback on train services.
He was here for a review meeting with senior WR officials on various ongoing infrastructure projects.
He also launched the Unified Command and Control Centre and inspected the Urban Pod — a state of the art sleeping pod for passengers at Mumbai Central.
The new unified command centre integrates all digital control rooms, including signals, power systems and thousands of CCTVs. It has a seamless facility for disaster management with streaming information on almost every aspect of relevance, including flooding, rainfall, trespassing, and communication with various agencies.
“It helps remote management and troubleshooting of over 2,700 CCTV networks being developed under the Integrated Surveillance System on Mumbai suburban system,” said WR chief spokesperson Sumit Thakur.
