MUMBAI: The meter reader agencies for MSEDCL have threatened to stop work if their payments which are pending since December are not cleared.
Said a person representing one of the agencies, requesting anonymity, “The MSEDCL has taken a stern stand that it will blacklist agencies who do not take proper readings and photographs of electricity meters. While we agree to this, we are opposed to the department holding back payments for almost all agencies since December. If the payments are not done before Holi, we may be compelled to protest from March 19. This will cause huge losses to MSEDCL.”
An official from MSEDCL said that they should continue work as the payments are being done “after scrutiny”.
He said that the department has taken a strong stand in the larger interests of consumers who have complained about faulty billing and “wrong readings.”EDCL threaten protest from March 19.
