Civic officials said that they had to initiate police action after a crowd of around a 100 persons without any social distancing or masks in their faces was found moving around at the eatery despite cases rising in the city.
The assistant municipal commissioner of L ward Manish Walunju said that there were complaints against the large crowding they had received and on Monday around 11.30 pm when civic teams visited also they saw similar crowds around the eatery and were forced to take action. “ In the past fortnight repeatedly action has been taken against the food joint. We first initiated seizure action followed by our nuisance detectors (ND) levying a penalty. Despite this there was crowding on Monday night and hence we decided to levy police action,” said Walunju.
RTI activist Anil Galgali said that the action was a good move and should serve as a deterrent to other eateries. “The municipal authorities should act sternly against those flouting Covid norms,” said Galgali.
