Last March, the handwriting expert confirmed that Sheena Bora had not signed the resignation letter that the CBI alleged was fraudulently sent in her name after she was murdered. The New Delhi-based expert Vijay Verma (48) said the signature on the document matched the handwriting of Kajal Sharma, a former assistant of Indrani’s.
The witness’ deposition was completed on Wednesday. The trial will continue on February 17.
Sheena, 24, was allegedly abducted and murdered on April 24, 2012 allegedly by her mother Indrani Mukerjea, Indrani’s ex husband Sanjeev Khanna, driver Shyamvar Rai in conspiracy with Indrani’s other ex husband, media moghul, Peter Mukerjea. Sheena’s body was allegedly disposed of on April 25 at a deserted spot off Pen-Khopoli road, Raigad. Rai was arrested on August 21, 2015, by the Khar police in an illegal arms case. During interrogation, he told them about Sheena’s alleged murder after which Indrani and Khanna were arrested. Rai later turned approver and deposed as a prosecution witness.
Peter was arrested in November 2015 and was granted bail in March 2020. He was present during Wednesday’s hearing.
