BHIWANDI: Parents of a newly-wed couple were booked by Thane police after more than 100 people were found attending the wedding function flouting social distancing and lockdown norms in Maharashtra‘s Bhiwandi town.
The police also booked a catering service provider and the hotel owner where the wedding took place.
Those who are booked in the case were bride’s father Vijay Gupta, groom’s father Rajendra Kesharwani, Samir Gavde, the owner of Vatika hotel and Pawan Agrawal, catering service provider.
Police said the action was taken late on Monday after they received specific information that a wedding was being held at Vatika hotel with more than 100 people present at the venue on Kalyan-Nashik highway near Bhiwandi naka.
“We have booked four people because as per the state government’s new lockdown rules, only 25 people are allowed in a wedding function but we found around 125 people were present and that too without following social distancing norms,” said a police officer.
