Citizens above the age of 60 accounted for 71% of Covid fatalities recorded this year, the state health department said on Sunday. Maharashtra has reported 62 deaths sin ce January, marking the highest jump in cases and deaths after nearly a year.Saying that those with underlying conditions remain the most vulnerable, the state review has shown that 5 8% of the deaths were in individuals with comorbidities, 10% with no known underlying conditions, while in 32% data was not available for analysis. While more than 40 deaths were among sen ior citizens, at least nine deaths were from the 41-59 age group, six from the 2140 age group and one from the 11-20 age group. Of the deceased, around 11% had not taken any vaccine. A hi gher number of men had succumbed in the infection.
