The state has finished vaccinating 6.48lakh of the 17lakh registered healthcare and frontline workers. Of the total vaccinated, 5.35lakh are health workers and 1.12lakh frontliners.
Over the past week, frontline workers have far outnumbered healthcare workers in daily vaccination turnouts both in the state as well as Mumbai. The vaccination of frontline workers began on February 3 whereas that of healthcare workers started on January 16.
On Friday, state turnout increased with 40,000 taking the vaccine, including, 16,988 healthcare workers and 23,012 frontliners. For the second day in a row, more frontline workers have taken the vaccine. On Friday, 23012 frontliners took the vaccine compared to 16988 healthcare workers.
In Mumbai, the turnout for healthcare workers was 51% while that for frontliners was 70%. The overall turnout for the city was around 61%. Of the 10,400 recipients scheduled for the day, 6361 took the vaccine. Of the 1.07lakh that have been vaccinated from both categories in the city, 87416 are health workers and 20309 are frontline workers. Nair Hospital and Seven Hills in Marol saw the highest vaccinations for the day at 1090 and 809 respectively.
