MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday took a dig at the BJP for calling Saturday’s Maha Morcha called by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) a nano morcha by saying that the morcha was was not the game of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) that are used to win elections.
The Sena in an editorial in Saamna, the party mouthpiece said that those who wouldn’t see how big the morcha was, have their eyes filled with hatred for Marathi.
“The MVA, including the Shiv Sena, started a Maha morcha in Mumbai on Saturday. Lakhs of Maharashtra lovers from all corners of Maharashtra took to the streets of Mumbai shouting ‘Jai Maharashtra’. However, Devendra Fadnavis says that the march failed. This was not a grand march; It was a nano morcha, basically those who did not see the grand nature of this morcha, it must be said that the ‘Marathi hatred’ has increased in their eyes. Saturday’s maha morcha in Mumbai was not the game of EVMs that win elections”, the Sena said in the editorial.
“The people who are worshipped in Maharashtra are being insulted continuously. Chhatrapati Shivarai, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar are being insulted, but the state government is turning a deaf ear. Because Delhi has sent them an injection of Gungi (to be mute). Once the effect of being mute wears off, the government is put to sleep by giving the next injection. The morcha in Mumbai was started with a grudge to wake up those deafened by such silence. So to say that this morcha was a ‘failure’ is to take it as a sign that the muteness has not had its effect and the rest of the muteness of such people will have to be brought down in the Nagpur session,” the editorial said.
Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday described the morcha as a nano morcha that was politically motivated.
“Saturday’s Maha morha was pointed and sharp. The ‘mute’ government did many tricks to prevent this march from happening. This illegitimate government put up paper hurdles of rules, laws, terms and conditions. Still, the grand march started. The march was successful. The biggest proof of this is that Fadnavis said bitterly that the march has failed! This means that the march was grand. The success of this march has left the government reeling. This march has given a notice to the Shinde-Fadnavis government,” the Sena said.
