With a massive spike in new COVID-19 cases Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan Dombivli and regions, Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 31,855 new COVID-19 cases. With this, the total COVID count in the state escalated to 25,64,881 including 2,47,299 active cases and 22,62,593 total recoveries. Mumbai reported its highest one-day rise in COVID-19 cases so far with 5,185 new infections coming to light. It took the caseload in the country’s financial capital to 3,74,611. There are 30,760 active patients. Meanwhile, in another development, the National Investigation Agency has invoked provisions of the UAPA against Sachin Waze. While the BJP met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to give him a ‘list’ of MVA’s failures, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh informed that he has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to investigate the corrupt malpractices allegations levelled against him by former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh.
