It seems that BJP’s Gujarat victory was driven by industry exodus from Maharashtra: Uddhav Thackeray | Mumbai News

It seems that BJP’s Gujarat victory was driven by industry exodus from Maharashtra: Uddhav Thackeray | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Congratulating the BJP for its win in the Gujarat assembly polls, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said that the elections in the neighbouring state were once again contested under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership and that is why the people voted for the BJP in a big way.
Uddhav took a dig at the BJP over the exodus of industries from Maharashtra to Gujarat saying that the victory may have been driven by this industrial exodus. Uddhav however said that the BJP’s win in Gujarat was record breaking and historic. Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray demanded that elections should be held in Maharashtra now.
“It seems that the victory in Gujarat may have been a result of the big industries that were driven away from Maharashtra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Maharashtra on December 11. Keeping in mind the BMC elections, he will make big announcements here as well. It is clear that AAP turned into a huge vote-splitter in Gujarat to the benefit of the BJP. Anyway, everyone’s politics is based on convenience”, Uddhav said in a statement.
Uddhav also congratulated the Congress for its grand win in Himachal Pradesh and the AAP for winning the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls.
“Last time there were three elections in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi Municipal Corporation, which BJP won. However, this time Congress has achieved unprecedented success in Himachal, AAP in Delhi Municipal Corporation and BJP in Gujarat. However, we must keep in mind that the industries driven from Maharashtra also contributed to Gujarat’s victory,” Uddhav said.
“Just as the industries in Maharashtra were driven away with the Gujarat elections in mind, will the villages in Maharashtra also be destroyed with the Karnataka elections in mind? Such fear has arisen. Therefore, if the traitors of Maharashtra are not stopped in time, they will not hesitate to tear Maharashtra apart. The poison in their mind has now become public,” Uddhav said, urging people to take part in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) morcha on December 17.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that the results in Gujarat were expected. “If AAP and other parties had formed a front there, there would have been an all-out battle. But, people suspect that there must have been an understanding between AAP and BJP that you should take Delhi and leave Gujarat to us,” Raut said.
Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray demanded that elections should be held in Maharashtra now. “Maharashtra elections should be held now. Elections of Mumbai, Thane, Pune and other municipalities are pending. Also, let elections be held in a democratic manner in Maharashtra. In democracy, one party came (to power) in one state and another in another state. Now the time has come to hold elections in Maharashtra. Because, an unconstitutional government has come to power in Maharashtra. Elections for 40 MLAs and 12 MPs should have been held, but they have not been held yet. Now after such a big victory, there should be no objection to holding elections in Maharashtra,” Aaditya said.
