KALYAN: The Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a police constable posted with Titwala police station for demanding a bribe of Rs 18,000 in exchange of not arresting three people including two women booked in a criminal case.
The arrested constable has been identified as Dhananjay Farde (40).
An ACB official said that recently an offence was registered against the trio.
The complainant alleged that in the case, the accused cop Farde demanded a bribe of Rs 24,000 ( Rs 8,000 each) for not arresting the trio.
The ACB official said after they received complaint, they laid trap on Thursday at Titwala police station and caught Farde red-handed while accepting settlement amount of Rs 18,000.
