We had zero cases in early December but the cases have now been reported amid the third wave, BEST official said.
MUMBAI: Sixty six employees from BEST have tested positive for Covid-19 since December 27, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said that six of them were discharged late Tuesday evening, including mainly drivers and conductors who are on frontline duties.
“60% of these Covid cases were detected as we conducted RT-PCR tests at our depots. We have also ensured that proper treatment was given to all staffers infected by the virus. Hospital beds were kept ready for any emergency situation,” said BEST chief medical officer Dr Anil Kumar Singal.
Singal added that BEST has been conducting daily monitoring of staff who have comorbidities and those who have low immunity or have previously been hospitalised for Covid-19.
“We had zero cases in early December but the cases have now been reported amid the third wave,” Dr Singal added.
